Last removed...

Well, today I finally managed to remove the last items to be taken off in this portion of the build. The strut rods. What a PITA those were. The nuts were rusted solid and no amount of heat and breaker bars would break them loose. In came the Diablo blades for the reciprocating saw. After aver a week of trying to get these suckers off, 15 min with the saw and the old strut rods are history. I will be now building a custom set of my own design using chro-moly heim joints and swedge sleeves. I will be taping a Youtube segment on the design and fabrication of these. This could get interesting.

More teardown

It was a little milder yesterday afternoon so I finished removing the old sway bar. I also got the spindles disassembled and ready to be degreased and painted. The only suspension components left to remove are the strut rods. They are rusted solid. I sprayed them down good with penetrating fluid and will have to use the torch on the nuts to remove them. Next up, frame rust repair and patch welding...

Deconstructed

We finished up taking the driver side suspension off this afternoon.  I also found an issue. The bottom of the shock tower is rusted through. I will have to weld in some patches and reinforcement plates.

Finally...

Well, we finally broke 40 this afternoon, so back to it. I got my 2 axis vise today for my drill press. We then got the coil spring out on the driver's side and got started taking the suspension apart.
