More painting

Well, it was unseasonably warm today, so I decided to get the painting finished on the shell of the car. We scuffed the top layer of basecoat, then I sprayed on another layer of the paint. I then sprayed it with 3 coats of urethane clear. It went on a little hazy, but eventually laid out smooth. I do have some areas of overspray and a bit of orange peel, but since it is just in the clear, I will be able to sand and buff it out in the spring. Pics to come...

Back to some body work.

Well, enough rest, time to get back to some body work. I got the filler on the driver side door patch. Ashley then got the passenger fender stripped. Harrison and I then went to pressure washing it to expose the 2 previous filler spots. I will need to grind these out and fill with steel first.

Seat work

Did some work on the seat this afternoon. There was a tear in the bench seat that needed repair. I used a patch kit to fill it. It will hold the seat together and disguise it until I decide to recover it. We then got the headrests dyed. I also was able to get the export brace and Monte Carlo bar installed in the engine bay. I had the pry the shock towers apart a little bit (50 years of the frame sagging), but I finally got it in place.

Chrome pen

I used my new chrome pen to finish the trim for the interior today. It came out pretty nice.
