The light at the end of the tunnel (hopefully not a train)

I haven't posted in a few days,  but here are some updated pictures.  We managed to get the directionals working as well as the interior lights. Hopefully just a few more days until it is ready for inspection.

Belts buckled

I managed to get the seat belts, rear seat and the rest of the interior panels in today. I also managed to get the headlights in and working even though it was about 95° in the garage. It will be cooler this week so I hope I will be able to get the car finished.

Running and rolling

After a little troubleshooting of an ignition issue, we got it running today. We also got the driver side fender and front valance buffed and installed.

Don't worry, we have a closed off cul-de-sac.

A little more buffing.

Ashley got the hood and passenger fender sanded down today. I then managed to buff them and get them installed back on the car. I was also able to get the intake torn off the motor and the new gaskets in place. It was definitely the cheap gasket that was the problem. The material wasn't cut right to cover the flange area outside of the water chamber. The new gasket is a perfect fit, so we will see if we can fire it up tomorrow.

Back inside

We threw the hood and fenders back on this morning to get it back in the garage.  Looking more and more like a car again.

Hope turned to depression turned to a little bit of joy.

I started out the day hopeful to get the engine running. As I poured the coolant in, I noticed it was coming right out again at the back of the engine. It looks like the intake manifold didn't seal at the back passenger side. Damn it. I ran over to Napa and got a good set of fel-pro gaskets. I will tear the top end back apart in a few days when I can get the car back in the garage.
Feeling a little defeated,  I decided we should get started wet sanding and buffing the trunk lid. We then got the rear trim and rear bumper installed.
We then moved to the inside and got the carpet installed. Once the carpet was mostly in, we grabbed the seat and started getting it installed. After Ashley struggled for a while trying to get the seat nuts on and I snapped of the lower bit of a seat bolt, we pulled the seat back out so that I could run a die over the studs. With the threads now cleaned out (which I should have done to start with), we managed to get the seat in. We then got the steering wheel in and the directional stalk. It is starting to look like a car on the inside now.
I then proceeded to sit behind my new steering wheel for about 20 minutes while Ashley picked up all the tools. Thanks dear.

Getting MEAN

My tires were mounted this morning, so we got them installed. They give the car a whole new demeanor.  I also got the new battery in and the plug wires finished. Ashley then helped me get the dash installed.

It's not easy being green.

It was a nice afternoon. I got the remaining pieces of the body painted and cleared. I also managed to get the door panels on and the plug wires dry fit to get the lengths ready to cut and crimp.

Primed and ready

Busy afternoon. I got the rest of the pieces epoxyed and primed. Ashley worked on getting the insulation on the floor.

Hot, hot, hot...

It hit 90 today with very high humidity. We did manage to get the passenger side door glass in as well as get the mirror mounted.

Lids

I got the under side of the trunk lid and hood painted today. We then mounted them to try and make some space in the garage. Ashley also mounted the windshield washer foot pump and the high beam switch on the floor.

Sore

My hands hurt pretty bad today, so Ashley did most of the work today. She got the rest of the interior panels painted black as well as painted the hood hinges. We then got the dash pad in and I got the driver side mirror mounted

Here's a quarter, call someone who cares.

I got the quarter panel windows installed this morning. They went in pretty smooth. I also got the front and rear windshield trim installed (more or less). Now I need to figure out how to clean up all that sealant. I also got the throttle linkage finished, installed the distributor and air filter.
